BD Diagnostics of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) launches its BD Max™ open system for molecular testing in Europe for laboratories and clinicians to run BD developed assays so that they can provide enhanced testing services that recognize them as standard caring institution.
On the opening day of 21st European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease and the 27th International Congress of Chemotherapy (ECCMID/CC) in Italy, BD announced its launch of BD Max in Europe.
“In a world with ever-evolving pathogens, laboratories need to provide clinicians with fast, accurate and actionable diagnostic information that will save patient lives. The new completely open, state-of-the-art BD MAX System empowers laboratories to automate their unique internally developed molecular assays, while accessing a rich and growing menu of world-class assays from BD and our leading assay development partners.” said Tom Polen, President of BD Diagnostics – Diagnostic Systems.
BD Max™ is the only automatic, top bench, open molecular testing workstation that is capable of performing IVD/CE and laboratory tests. With this system installed in clinical laboratory, they have the ability to deal professionally with the emerging threats like respiratory illnesses and new strains of deadly drug resistant bacteria.
Polen also briefed that BD is intended for a steady stream of announcement for agreements with IVD assay developers so that to emerge with new assays to the BD Max system for a vast range of disease coverage.
“BD’s strategy is to make BD MAX the laboratory equivalent of a smartphone. We are working with leading assay development companies from around the world to develop a constantly growing, content-rich menu of tests that deliver critical information to caregivers faster and more accurately than current methods. Our plan is to make the BD MAX System an indispensable tool that no laboratory professional will want to live without.” Said Polen.
BD Max is an open capability with fully automated system that will make laboratories to standardize a vast range of molecular testing for their current and future requirements. This system will give European clinical Labs, ability to give professional lab services.
